On Sunday, November 24th from 4-7pm, we'll be hosting a family Thanksgiving dinner along with some fun family activities. Bring a dessert to share, everything is else is provided. We'll start the night with some family fun and eat after. Sign up by Sunday, November 17th so that we have enough turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and goodies for all!
This year we are supporting the Community Snack Program and we are asking people to come with a donation to help out.
WHAT IS THE COMMUNITY SNACK PROGRAM?
The Community snack program started in 2017. Maycee had a classmate that would ask for a snack every day. Maycee and another classmate worked together to create a schedule to bring their hungry classmate a snack each day. Maycee shared this with her parents at the dinner table one night and they thought if there is one hungry child there must be more and September of 2017 the Community Snack Program was created.
Snack time is provided every day at the elementary schools for each grade level. Children are required to have their own snack or go without. Some teachers were supplying snacks, but if this was not present for the child that did not have a snack, then the child was left without or left to watch their classmates. Now that the Community Snack Program is in place in both Elementary Schools in Edenton, a child that is without a snack can grab an item from the snack bin.
