Growing in your faith isn’t something that comes without intention and work.
Below are some basics to jump start your next step of faith in your walk with God.

salvation

Salvation is the most critical step of faith that you can take. We have all sinned against God, but because of His love for us, God took on human form and died in our place, taking the punishment we deserve. God promises forgiveness of sins to all who receive, by grace through faith, Jesus Christ as Savior.

John & Romans are great books to start reading to learn about Jesus.

Baptism

Water baptism is an outward expression of an inward commitment and symbol representing your commitment to Jesus Christ. Baptism is a symbol of Christ’s death and resurrection; thus, we practice baptism by immersion for children and adults who have decided to follow Jesus.

“For when you were baptized, you were buried with Christ, and in baptism you were also raised with Christ.” Colossians 2:12 NLT

Growth track

The Open Door Growth Track guides you to discover God's unique purpose for your life and how to live the life that He has created for you. The Growth Track comprises three steps that equip you to 1) connect to the church, 2) discover the strengths of your intentional design, and 3) use your God-given gifts to make a difference in the lives of others.

Growth Track is our updated offering from Membership Class and is the new gateway to all serving opportunities at Open Door Church. This three-session series will be offered on the first three Sundays of every month at both campuses. Lunch and childcare will be provided at all three sessions.

Leading

As believers, we should also be leaders. Everyone should use this influence to further God’s kingdom. This could mean taking a leadership role in a ministry area or beginning a new ministry. It could also include serving as a ministry leader, a deacon, elder, or vocational ministry. The most natural way leading happens is to volunteer in the area you feel would fit well or have a passion for starting a new ministry. Let Connections Pastor Chris Rexroad know, and we’ll see how we can partner together!

Sharing Your Faith

Jesus chose to leave His legacy and the responsibility to tell others about Him to us, His followers. It is one of the most important Next Steps, but often the most difficult and, for many, one they never take. You do not need to be a Bible scholar or a pastor to tell others about Jesus. What you need to do is tell your own story—the story of your brokenness and the grace, mercy, and healing that you have personally experienced.

One way to easily engage with others about your faith regularly is to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok.

giving

God designed the local church to function in cooperation with the generosity of believers. In the Old Testament, the priesthood lived partly on the sacrifices dedicated to God. In the New Testament, the church grew upon the generosity of its members.

There are two types of financial giving in the church. The first is tithing or giving a set percentage of your income. Usually, this is 10% of your income. Offerings, the other type of giving, go above and beyond the tithe as an extra blessing for the local church.

serving & volunteering

At Open Door Church, one of our core values is serving people. There are two avenues to serve people: 1) serve on a team doing ministry inside the church, or 2) serve the community outside of our church. As a church, we need and encourage both of these. We genuinely believe that we should be “leading the world to God through service.”

PRAYER

Prayer is a critical element in the daily life of any believer. Your prayer might reflect the Lord’s prayer or you might just talk to God about your day. No matter what form it takes, we know from experience that no believer can be at their best without daily time in prayer.

But, you don’t have to pray alone either; you can request the prayer team to pray for a specific need.

life groups

Life Groups give us more personal and intimate friendships, as well as a place to live out what we hear in our Sunday worship gatherings. Life Groups allow you to ask questions and work out answers to issues. If you have any questions or need more information, contact Connections Pastor Chris Rexroad.
